Evaluation and Assessment

Assessment System

Assessment in the Division of Biology uses a system of PAN (Normal Reference Assessment), is a relative assessment in a group. Rated number of different components will be processed so that the value of the letter, in principle, the value of the letter are 5 levels, namely:

Course Examination  for each Semester

Course Examination for each semester,  can be followed by the eligible  students, who have followed the course at least 75% of the course attendant, and evaluation is done gradually, include:

  • Mid Semester Examination (mid-semester)
  • Pre  Semester Examination (pre-semester)
  • Final Examination

Final value of a course derived from various components with a percentage:

Practice Work Examination

Practice Work examination conducted in the laboratory. Examination forums consists of lecturers and students. Testing was conducted in the form of verbal or analytical discussion of practice work  reports.

Proposal Seminar and Research Seminar Examination

Seminar examination conducted in the laboratory. Examination forum consists of examiner lecturers, supervisor and students. Other students may attend this forum. Testing was conducted in the form of verbal or analytical discussion of the materials. Seminar assessment criteria as follows:

  • Presentation 20%
  • Creativity 20%
  • Discussion abilities 30%
  • Writing 30%

Final Project Examination

Students who have completed the research and writing the thesis entitled to the final project examination. Examination was conducted by the Committee at the Laboratory. The Committee consists of the Head and Secretary. The Board forum consists of:

  • Supervisors
  • Two examiner lecturers from same laboratory who elected by committee
  • One examiner lecturers from other laboratory or division who elected by committee

Requisite for examiner lecturer:

  • Lecturer with the level of Expert Assitant
  • Master degree with at least 3 years working experience

Examination requisite for students was have been through a 138 SKS (or 135  SKS and are KKN), without the E value, with a minimum 2.50 GPA. The principle of the assessment consist of various component:

  • Method (40%): justification, hypothesis, apropriate method, conclusion, and refference relatedness
  • Knowledge (40%): covering theories in the scope of the study related to the discussion
  • Writing (20%): communicative of writing, cthe way serving data / results, how to write scientific papers in general

Examination rate consist:

  • Supervisor      (1 rate, 20 %)
  • Examiner 1     (1 rate, 20 %)
  • Examiner 2     (1 rate, 20 %)
  • Examiner 3     (1 rate, 20 %)
  • Committe        (1 rate, 20 %)

Final Project Rate is a combination of values:

  • Proposal Seminar   20%
  • Research Seminar  20%
  • Final Examination 60%

Evaluation of Student Progress

Evaluation of student progress in the study that is conducted periodically consists of three phases:

  • Evaluation of the first four semesters, students have been through at least 45 SKS (minimum) with a GPA at least 2.50 (hope). End-to three-semester, students will be given information by academic trustee about their academic achievement
  • Evaluation of the second four semester, students have been through at least 100 SKS (minimum) with a GPA at least 2.50 (hope). End-to seven-semester, students will be given information by academic trustee about their academic achievement
  • Students are given the opportunity to complete the study within 14 semesters, if they are not able to finish in time, then asked to submit a resignation as a student of Biology course.
  • Final evaluation of the program, students have been through a 144 SKS, without the E value, with a GPA at least 2, 50
